ABOUT ENVINT Consulting

ENVINT Consulting was founded by Martin Tampier in 2002. Its main purpose is to provide services in in the environmental field, with a focus on energy technology and policy analysis.
      Martin Tampier, ENVINT Principal, holds a diploma in environmental engineering (Technical University of Berlin, Germany) and a post-graduate Master’s degree in Human Ecology (Free University of Brussels). Starting his career in Europe, he worked as an intern for the European Commission and as a consultant for environmental consulting companies. After coming to Canada in 1999, he became a freelance consultant in 2001, which led to the creation of ENVINT Consulting in 2002.
      ENVINT consults a range of clients, from non-governmental organizations over research facilities, industry associations, to municipal, provincial/territorial and federal governments. ENVINT’s work spans the globe, concentrating on Canada but including the U.S., Europe, Africa, South America, and Asia
      Martin Tampier has successfully completed Environment Canada’s Greenhouse Gas Validation and Verification course (2005) and is a technical reviewer for project applications with Sustainable Technology Development Canada, Alberta Innovates, the Federation of Canadian Municipalities, Natural Resources Canada, and others.
      Martin is pentilingual and has completed several projects requiring international research and networking. He works as a researcher, policy analyst, and conference advisor with an emphasis on climate change, life-cycle analysis, renewable energy, energy policy and technology and sustainability issues. A substantial part of his work focuses on biomass energy, including biofuels, biogas, biomass power generation, biorefineries, bioplastics, and other bioproducts.

A professional engineer, Martin advises governments,
companies, and other organizations. He has
presented at numerous events, including CanSIA, CanBIO Americana, a National Energy Board workshop, the Commission for Environmental Cooperation, etc. He is also
a guest lecturer on Energy & Sustainability at McGill University.

  • Technical and economic feasibility: Project feasibility studies in the area of renewable energy.
  • Policy research: Research and reporting on environmental issues, from environmental legislation over government programs, renewable energy, carbon trading to waste management and health & safety.
  • GHG emission reduction validation and verification: Martin Tampier has successfully completed the Environment Canada training course for GHG validators and verifiers.
  • Technology evaluation: Based on previous work in the biomass sector and in concert with other experts, ENVINT provides market assessments for emerging technologies, as well as technological and economic evaluations, energy and emissions balances.
  • Life-cycle analysis: With extensive work done on greenhouse gas emission reduction projects, offset quantification and life-cycle analysis of biomass technologies, ENVINT has positioned itself as one of the Canadian consultancies that are able to address environmental impacts from a cradle-to-grave perspective.
  • Emission trading market research: Emission offset calculation, market options and future pricing is one of the fields ENVINT is active in, als working with First Carbon in this field.
  • Surveys and consultations: ENVINT has an extensive network of contacts and organizations active in the biomass, energy and emissions trading fields. The company conducts industry and stakeholders surveys for statistical or policy purposes.
  • Conference presentations and papers: ENVINT has made several presentations at conferences and workshops on subjects related to its work, including the drafting and publication of related articles in the specialized press.

  • WSP Global: Martin has worked with WSP on several projects and proposals, including waste-to-energy options and biogas in Yukon and a study opn bioenergy projets in Ivory Coast.
  • ICF International: ICF’s Ottawa office is working with ENVINT on a number of opportunities, including a long-term contract with Aboriginal and Northern Affairs Canada.

Natural Resources Canada: ENVINT worked as the lead company on the 2017 update of the Remote Communities Database and subsequently, on pother projects.

Environment Canada: Several projets, including training opn bioenergy and emissions, a series of smaller topical reports, and a report on alternative heating energy costs.

Indian and Northern Affairs Canada: ENVINT is part of a consortium with a five-year contract to review funding applications for energy projects in northern, aboriginal, and off-grid communities.
